With a continuous effort toward an inclusive society, Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation and Firefox Bikes, with Volunteer4India took the #EverydayAbility movement to Gurgaon, Delhi. With our core principle #EverydayAdventure, together we are pushing the boundaries further with paramotoring for Persons with Disability and the able-bodied. Firefox believes that everyone has a little bit of adventure in their lives, from the mundane to the extraordinary.
Through our partnership with ABBF and V4I, we started the movement in Pune with riding and rappelling, then hit Mumbai with riding and rock climbing and now the Delhi chapter. #EverydayAbility Delhi started with a short ride as is always our agenda in the early hours of 18th November, 2017. The riders joined the participants, volunteers and organisers at Flyboy Aero Park, Gurgaon.
The event witnessed close to 100 people in participation, 27 of which got to experience the sheer joy and euphoria have flying and soaring the open skies. The PWD members included wheelchair users, blind and visually impaired individuals, as well as two very special friends! One, a Kargil war veteran, Major DP Singh, who is India’s first blade runner. Second, Preeti Monga, a visually impaired woman with a stellar success story that crosses aerobics instructor, computer teacher, marketing manager, PR and more!
As is tradition, the event ended with a closing circle where everyone comes together to discuss their experiences of the event and their learnings if any. The aim of this movement is to spread awareness and promote inclusion of PWDs. The goal is to shatter the misconceptions around disability. Events like these create experiences and memories that are important in shaping the perspectives of people and give them insights into lives of those who are different from us and yet the same in many ways.
Join us and show your support as we take the movement across 4 more cities. We will continue the #EverydayAbility movement in January, 2018. We look forward to continuing our adventure with ABBF. Thank you to the volunteers from Volunteer4India for facilitating this adventure!
