Either you love the city or you despise it, but you can’t ignore it! The very epicentre of the country and the heart of culinary delight, artistic passion and argumentative discourse. With the influence of the Mughal dynasty on Delhi’s architecture and city planning, the city is complete with many parks and picturesque side streets. It is common to see the citizens of Delhi take to the streets in the early hours to get some good exercise before the hustle and chaos of the day begins. If you want to join them in arms, we have listed a few cycling routes for you around the city. Given the vastness and diversity of the city and NCR region, we will be doing this blog in two parts – New Delhi in this blog and NCR in the next blog. Stay tune!

As for New Delhi:
  • Dhaula Kuan to 11 Murti Marg, Sardar Patel Marg:
The best part about this route is the download slope towards 11 Murti Marg. With the wind in your face and the greenery around, this route is a great start to the day.

  • Sanjay Van in Qutub Institutional Area:
Between Qutub Minar and Jawaharlal Nehru University, the thick forest cover and smooth trail are a delight, especially if you are an amateur or looking for a quick ride. To add to the delight, there are animals around like peacocks and monkeys.

  • Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate:
Take a moment to pause and survey the scene from atop Raisina Hill. The Rashtrapati Bhawan stands majestic to one side, the India Gate in all its glory to the other, and Rajpath running all the way. It’s a vision that would fill any Indian with pride!

  • Gurgaon – Faridabad Road:
If you are looking at challenging yourself, then you have to give this route a shot. The inclines make the ride a little tricky and truly test your stamina. It’s a popular spot for runners and cyclists alike given the road is flanked by trees, making the route all the more rewarding.

  • NH 8 – Domestic Terminal to Manesar:
Test your endurance and speed training on this straight long stretch of tarmac. You can really push your speeds here without the worry of diversions and disturbances. Ideally, take this route early morning; as the day progresses, traffic picks up making the routes a little tricky.

There you have it – 5 routes to start off your cycling resolution for the year. As promised, stay tuned for another blog covering more routes of the NCR region. If you would like us to cover a particular area, let us know and we will make sure we incorporate it!
